The Irish Pub Crawl features a drunken leprechaun that has fallen from his bar stool, surrounded by beer bottles and shamrocks with the words ‘St Patrick’s Day PUB CRAWL TEAM’.
So once again here is the green leprechaun creating mischief, well sort of. At least he tried! It is rather impressive that the guy managed to keep his pipe in his mouth, his beer in one hand and his big stick in the other. Why he has a big stick is questionable. This could be because of the story of Saint Patrick banishing the snakes from Ireland into the sea with his walking stick? Maybe the leprechaun just has back problems, because St. Patrick was no leprechaun, but to be fair, there were never really snakes in Ireland either, so who knows?
This tee is one that pulls out all of the stereotypical ideas of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day! It is even going to be pointed out that there are things in this design that make no sense whatsoever, just for the purpose of it being noticed for the occasion. Call it clever or offensive, it is what it is.
What things? You might be asking yourself, Well here we go! Basketball shoes on a leprechaun? I think not, however where is one of the largest St. Patrick Day parades in the world? Boston, Home of the Celtics which is basketball and their mascot is a leprechaun with a pipe. Next question! Major brands of Irish beers come in what color bottles? Did you say brown and green? Oh, my! You are clever! Of course you have the drunken Irishman well he is already in a bar, well we will assume it is a bar since the tee says so though there is no actual bar in the design. You have the shamrocks, the beer, and of course the leprechaun and for some odd reason you have some chucks (basketball shoes) and a walking stick (Shillelagh or Shaleighleigh) such an odd combination! Oh wait, no it is not, it is all about the marketing. What words are going to be seen, items are going to be noticed. Honestly I have to say to the guys at Holiday T-Shirts, this design is the word ‘Mick’ away from being very offensive to someone with the stereotypical Irish temper.
