The Peace Rocks T-Shirt Design By Benjamin Hennessy features the ‘V’ hand gesture as a peace sign made from different stones and crystals of different colors.
There are many symbols of peace from different origins, all of which are incredibly interesting, but the V symbol actually has a rather unique beginning as far as its meaning of peace. The V sign, depending on the way that it is positioned by the hand can mean a few things, inward palm is apparently offensive in some cultures. An outward palm however was first used to mean victory. This was changed when ‘hippies’ started using it in protest of the Vietnam War and it became known worldwide as the ‘Peace Sign’.
This design shows a mixture of rocks formed to create the hand gesture of peace. The beautiful thing about the design is that the hand is formed by so many shapes, sizes, and colors that would no doubt come from different areas of the world to express a symbol of peace. Some of the stones are jagged, some being smooth, some are very pretty and some are just not pretty at all. These stones are very much like humans, they are all different and all somewhat similar as well, only they have managed to create peace. (I could insert a joke about them being ‘stoned’ in here, but I won’t)
The bright colors against the white background makes the detail of the rocks standout even more, making this design look even more realistic. The shadowing maybe a bit off, only because it seems that it would be a little larger than it is even if the light is shining directly from above.
The best thing about this design is the title, but unfortunately that is not actually visibly printed on the tee. The Peace Sign being what it is and the reasons for its beginnings and that era having such a musical influence, especially rock music, it all fits together so well!
