The Purrfect Plan t-shirt design features a cat hiding behind a birdhouse facade with the hole lined up with its mouth.
Glenn Jones (Glennz) must have something against birds. He must be a cat lover. He must had rooted for Sylvester and not Tweety as well as Tom instead of Jerry from cartoons.
He creates this super clever cat that is an evil genius that makes the likes of Dr. Horrible and Dr. Evil look tame and weak in comparison. Some unsuspecting couple will be looking for a home to raise their eggs and their lives will be cut short as a result.
GOOD! Birds piss me off, they chirp too loud and poop on everything. Bet you thought I really liked birds huh? Besides turkey and dressing or fried chicken I can careless to be honest. Dinosaurs should had never evolved into the feathered rats.
This illustration is simple an effective. One doesn’t need to keep adding elements onto a design to create art that sells. The execution is brilliant. Like most of Glenn’s work, he let’s the viewer’s imagination fill in the blanks and details with this piece. You don’t need to see the cat’s face or teeth. You don’t need to see birds. You just need to use common sense. Which is the stroke of pure genius. By implementing this everyone gets the joke. Kids can enjoy the work and not feel left out even if the tee isn’t available in their sizes. Because it is appropriate for all viewing ages. It doesn’t matter if it is over obvious or even cliched, t’s all about the delivery. People like things that don’t make them think too much.
Self explanatory concepts are the man’s bread and butter and he does it brilliantly. With just a few colors he creates some cartoon images that will put smiles on millions of faces worldwide. He chooses some warped and demented subject matter and adds another twist to it. Like the Melting design which has that annoying devil’s cube also known as a Rubik’s cube being sent back to Hell via heat. Most of us non geniuses relate to that feeling of animosity towards the puzzle.
That relating and identifying is what makes Glennz is a legend in the tee industry and why he can get away with the ancient theme of cat versus bird.
